Jizhou Kiln Ruins Park Hongkaku Temple Tower

The ancient pagoda(本觉寺塔) was built during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty (712-741). It was originally part of the Benjue Temple, so it was called the “Benjue Temple Pagoda”, also known as the “Feilai Pagoda”. The tower is 26 meters high and has nine floors on eight sides. The first to fifth floors are hollow and have spiral steps to climb up. The surface of the tower body is plastered and has no decoration; the tower eaves are made of stacked bricks and raised; the tower body is tapered layer by layer from bottom to top, which is simple and unpretentious. Although the ancient pagoda has been damaged by thousands of years of war, it still stands firm and complements the “Jizhou Hongkaku Temple Ancient Kiln Ruins” next to it.
